Back fill with a layer of sand then clean dirt.As cowboyro said, that looks like poly. Trying to glue to polyethylene is very tricky. There are processes for welding to poly but that takes some special tools and some experience. That is best left to some one who knows what they are doingor you will have a much bigger hole to worry about.|

Allow for complete cooling of the repair before going on to the next stage in the process.
It is now necessary to v-groove the region where the staples or tack welds were previously located.
In addition, you must trim the margins of the existing welds by approximately one inch.
After you have finished welding the last regions, you should smooth and shape them to get the desired look.
