Mercer County Health District

A pediatric COVID-19 vaccine was suggested by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) on November 2, 2021, for immunization against COVID-19 in children ages 5 to 11 years. The Pfizer-BioNTech pediatric vaccine was recommended for children ages 5 to 11 years. Despite the fact that the Pfizer-BioNTech pediatric COVID-19 vaccine is delivered in a two-dose main series three weeks apart, it has a lower dosage (10 micrograms) than the vaccination used for adults 12 years of age and older (30 micrograms).

COVID-19 Boosters: Booster doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine are now available for anybody aged 12 and older who had their second dose at least five months ago.
A booster dose is indicated for persons who have received the JohnsonJohnson (Janssen) COVID-19 vaccine and who are 18 years of age or older and who were vaccinated at least 2 months ago.

COVID-19 Vaccine for Children: On Tuesday, November 2, 2021, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) advised the use of the Pfizer-BioNTech pediatric vaccine for immunization against COVID-19 in children ages 5 to 11 years. MCHD will begin giving the third dosage of mRNA to immunocompromised persons beginning on Friday, August 27, 2021, if they have had the second shot in the two-dose series of Moderna or Pfizer vaccine at least 28 days before to receiving the third injection.
When receiving a third dose of COVID-19 vaccine at MCHD, the client will be needed to fill a form certifying that they are eligible for the vaccination.

COVID-19 vaccinations are available at the Mercer County Health District office every Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday.
For the time being, the Pfizer vaccination is only available on Fridays to those who are 12 years or older (minors must have parental consent).
